Americans didn't just celebrate the Fourth of July with food and fireworks. Like any good celebration, music was a big part of the mix.

In the Nielsen Music tracking week ending July 5, patriotic song sales soared, led by Lee Greenwood's 1984 classic "God Bless the USA," which bounded to 28,000 sold, up 1,110 percent from 2,000 the prior frame. The ballad makes its first appearance on the Digital Songs chart (dated July 18), where it debuts at No. 49.

The next-biggest star-spangled scanners during the tracking week: Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A.," up by 615 percent to 15,000 (from 2,000); Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue" (14,000, up 259 percent); Katy Perry's "Firework" (11,000, up 133 percent); and Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." (11,000, up 174 percent).

Unsurprisingly, given its traditional lyrical nature, country music dominates the list, with Keith being the only artist with two titles above and five of the 10 tracks having been hits on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Just below the top 10, a 2015 patriotic single shows: Rihanna's "American Oxygen" is up by 21 percent to 5,000 sold. It also gains by 12 percent to 604,000 on-demand U.S. streams.

Additionally, among albums, Kid Rock's 2010 release Born Free re-enters the Top Catalog Albums chart at No. 1, rocketing by 409 percent to 7,000 copies sold. Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A. bounds by 178 percent to 3,000 sold, re-entering Top Catalog Albums at No. 28. On Compilation Albums, two patriotic packages (billed as by various artists) surge: 50 Patriotic Songs: Music for the 4th of July, a re-entry at No. 17 (up 2,415 percent to 1,000), and The 50 Greatest Patriotic Songs & Marches of the USA (1,000, up 190 percent).
